Upload Image Files in Project Admin Center

Introduction

We HIGHLY recommend using the Cupix Connect App to upload 360° image files to your projects. Connect typically uploads quicker than any other method.

If you cannot use the Connect App, options are available for using your camera's SD card, a computer, and the Chrome web browser as explained below.


Permissions

In Project Admin Center, Team Admins and Project Admins can upload image files for themselves or others.

Project Members do not have access to this section of the system.


Upload Limits

These are limits to 360 image file uploads based on camera model and file type.

  • Insta360 X4:
    • Upload a single INSV file with these parameters:
      • Max 20-minute 3D Map Video - produces 360° tour and 3D map in SiteView.
      • Max 60-minute 360° Video - produces 360° tour in SiteView.
    • Upload a single INSP file which produces a single pano image in SiteView.
  • All other Insta360 cameras:
    • Upload a pair of INSV files with these parameters:
      • Max 20-minute 3D Map Video - produces 360° tour and 3D map in SiteView.
      • Max 60-minute 360° Video - produces 360° tour in SiteView.
    • Upload a single INSP file that produces a single pano image in SiteView.
  • Ricoh Theta X:
    • Upload a single MP4 file with these parameters:
      • Max 20-minute 3D Map Video - produces 360° tour and 3D map in SiteView.
      • Max 60-minute 360° Video - produces 360° tour in SiteView.
    • Upload a single JPG file that produces a single pano image in SiteView.

Contact your CSM for assistance if you have files that exceed these limits.


Web Browser Requirements

  • We recommend submitting captures using a Chrome web browser.
  • When uploading image files to the CupixWorks Project Admin Center, keep the Chrome browser and upload tab visible until all files are uploaded.
    The browser will stop the upload process if the tab goes to sleep or you close the browser window.

Upload in Project Admin Center

There are two ways to upload image files to your project within Project Admin Center:

  • TwinCapture Upload button on the main Captures page.
    • Use this option when you have already uploaded the capture data in TwinCapture, but cannot upload the image files with Connect or mobile upload.
  • Upload 360° Files button inside a capture date.
    • Use this option when you cannot upload the capture data due to an error OR have to capture a site without TwinCapture due to an issue or the environment. NOTE: Only do this when a support person/CSM instructs you to. Missing capture data can slow or stop the system from processing the image files.

Instructions for each are provided below.

 

Capture Data Already Uploaded (TwinCapture Upload Button)

To upload 360° image files when the capture data is already uploaded:

  1. Choose transfer method:
    • Connect the camera (with microSD card inside) and USB cable to the computer.
    • Connect the SD card reader/USB adapter (with microSD card inside) to the computer.
    • Insert the microSD card directly into a card reader in the computer.
  2. Sign in to your CupixWorks team website. Example: https://cupix.cupix.works/.
  3. Navigate to the project you are uploading your image files to. (If you start in "Map View", search at the top for the project name if not seen on the left side.)
  4. Click on Captures at the top.
  5. Click on the TwinCapture Upload button. 
  6. Click on the Choose Files button.
  7. Select the file(s) to upload, then click Open. NOTE:
    • If you copied the files to a folder on the computer, go there.
    • If you connected the camera with the microSD card, go to the camera USB drive -> DCIM -> Camera01 (Insta360) or 100RICOH (Ricoh). 
    • If you aren't sure which ones are needed, select all the files in the folder. The system will determine which are needed.
  8. Click Next. 
  9. Click Done. 
  10. The files will be uploaded to the CupixWorks server. You can view the progress in the lower right corner of the screen. 
  11. Once all files are uploaded, click on the Reload this page  icon.
  12. The status of each Area should change from "Waiting Panos" to "In Progress".


360° Imagery Only (Upload 360° Files Button)

To create a new capture with 360° image files only:

  1. Choose transfer method:
    • Connect the camera (with microSD card inside) and USB cable to the computer.
    • Connect the SD card reader/USB adapter (with microSD card inside) to the computer.
    • Insert the microSD card directly into a card reader in the computer.
  2. Sign in to your CupixWorks team website. Example: https://cupix.cupix.works/.
  3. Navigate to the project you are uploading your image files to. (If you start in "Map View", search at the top for the project name if not seen on the left side.)
  4. Click on Captures at the top.
  5. Here you can do one of two things:
    • Click on the New Capture(Area) button, then:
      1. Select a capture date, add a label (if applicable), and then click Save.
      2. Double-click on the newly created capture date at the top left of the table.
    • Click on an existing capture date (like "Aug 2" or "Jan 1") to add files.
  6. On the capture date screen, click the Upload 360° Files button.
  7. Use the default Capture Name or type in a new name, then click Next.
  8. Select the Level the capture was taken on and click Next.
  9. Select the type of camera and file format:
    • If an Insta360 X4 video, click here.
    • If an Insta360 One RS 1-inch, X2, or X3 video, click here.
    • If a Ricoh Theta X video, click here.
    • If a 360° photo (up to 300 total) from any camera model, click on "Upload 360° photos for auto-alignment" (below the three video upload options).
  10. Click Add Files to select the image files to upload. NOTE:
    • If you copied the files to a folder on the computer, go there.
    • If you connected the camera with the microSD card, go to the camera USB drive -> DCIM -> Camera01 (Insta360) or 100RICOH (Ricoh).
    • IMPORTANT!You can only create a single Area at a time. Select files based on the following:
      • Insta360 X4: 1 INSV file (a single 00 file) for each video or 1 INSP file for each photo.
      • All other Insta360 cameras: 2 INSV files (paired by 00 & 10) for each video or 1 INSP file for each photo.
      • Ricoh: 1 MP4 file for each video or 1 JPG file for each photo.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Verify all information is correct and click Upload to submit the image file(s).
  13. Contact your CS team to provide the starting positions for each new Area. Include the starting point and level as marked on the reference plan. These details are needed for proper pano alignment.
