BIM Compare View

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction

The BIM Compare View allows you to compare BIM models alongside 360° captures, offering a clear visual reference for project analysis. You can navigate the Capture Viewer with the BIM Viewer, use the BIM Selector to manage multiple models, and switch between different compare modes. Additionally, support for Revit 3D views and Navisworks viewpoints ensures compatibility with familiar workflows.

Accessing BIM Compare View

To start a BIM comparison:

  1. Open your project in SiteView and access the menu on the left side.
  2. Click BIM Compare in the menu.

This opens the Capture Viewer alongside a synchronized BIM Viewer, allowing you to compare the 360° panos and BIM model side by side.

By default, the BIM Viewer is synchronized with the Capture Viewer. You can navigate the Capture Viewer in the following ways:

  • Click inside the viewer or use the WASD keys or arrow keys to move.
  • Navigate directly to a specific location using the Plan Viewer or Location Indicator.

Note: For more details, refer to the Navigation in First Person Mode article.

When switching to Aerial Mode, the BIM Viewer also transitions to Aerial Mode, synchronizing with the 3D Dollhouse or Imported point cloud in the Main Viewer.

Note: For more details, refer to the Navigation in Aerial Mode article.

BIM Selector

The BIM Selector allows you to load, overlay, and manage multiple BIM files and predefined views.

  1. Click Change in the BIM Selector.
  2. Toggle BIM model(s) on or off to control which models are visible in the viewer.

Note: If the BIM model includes published Revit 3D Views or saved Navisworks Viewpoints, you can display them in the BIM Viewer by toggling them on.

  • Revit 3D Views – Synchronize and display predefined 3D views from Revit.
  • Navisworks Viewpoints – Retain and visualize predefined viewpoints from Navisworks.

Changing Compare Mode

You can switch between different compare modes in BIM Compare View:

  • Dual Camera: Traditional side-by-side comparison
  • Single Camera: Overlapped views with a slider to reveal portions of each environment
  • TwinLens: A movable window displaying a second 360° virtual tour or BIM overlaying the primary view

Note:
In BIM Compare View, you can switch between compare modes while using different view modes, including both First-Person Mode and Aerial Mode.
For more details, refer to the Change Compare Mode article.
