Introduction
This short tutorial will teach you how to:
- Install the app.
- Manage files.
- Add a camera.
- Choose a capture mode.
- Capture the site with videos or photos.
- Upload the capture data, OmniNotes & image files.
Install TwinCapture
(For Android mobile devices with OS 10 & higher or iOS mobile devices with iOS 14.1 or higher.)
Here is how to install it:
- In the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, search for, "cupix twincapture".
- Tap on "TwinCapture".
- Download and install it.
- For iOS, tap on the "cloud & down arrow" icon.
- For Android, tap on the "Install" button.
- Once installed, tap on Open.
- When message appear, please answer as follows:
- In iOS: When Allow "TwinCapture to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites? appears choose your preference.
- In Android: When Allow TwinCapture to access photos and media on your device? appears, tap on Allow.
- Please watch the short tutorial video, and then tap on Get Started.
- You will be taken to accounts.cupix.works to enter your account details. Here is the sequence:
- Enter your team URL. (For example, "joesconstruction".) Tap on Next.
- Enter your email. Tap on Next.
- Enter your password. Tap on Next.
- "Check your email for a code" will appear.
- Go to your email app & view the message titled, "Secure two-step verification notification". It comes from no-reply@accounts.cupix.com.
- Enter the code and tap on Next.
- A message will ask you to allow TwinCapture to access this device's location. Please tap on While using the app.
- Tap on the project you need to capture, then tap on Switch. (You can also search for your project using the search bar if you're part of a larger team account.)
- The app will start downloading the project files onto your mobile device. The process can take some time, depending on the number of levels and reference plans.
- You are now on the capture screen. Read each section below to learn how to capture the site.
Capture Screen
Explanation of capture screen options:
- Settings (gear icon) - Tap to select/change projects, manage files, and contact support.
- Screen Rotation - Tap to move the screen in 45° increments.
- Hide/Show Arrows - Tap to switch the directional arrows off and on.
- Change Level - Tap to switch between different reference plans and levels.
- Upload Capture - TwinCapture will automatically upload the capture data once a WiFi or cellular network is available to the mobile device. This screen also:
- Lists captures that still need to be uploaded.
- Lists errors that occurred during the capture process.
- Connect 360° Camera - Tap to connect to a camera's WiFi network.

How to connect to your camera:
- Turn the 360° camera on and wait ~20 seconds.
- Tap on Connect 360° Camera.
- The mobile device will initiate a connection:
- iOS devices ask you to Join.
- Android devices ask you to Allow.
- Tap on the camera model you are using.
- Tap on Connect.
- The mobile device will initiate a connection:
- iOS devices ask you to Join.
- Android devices ask you to Connect.
- The camera is connected. Tap on OK to continue.

Camera Connection Screen
To view details about the camera that is currently connected:
A. Tap on the camera icon at the bottom right corner.
B. Explanation of Camera Connection screen options:
- Camera connection status.
- Camera brand and model.
- Camera serial number.
- Battery charge: Begin with a fully charged battery (100%). Avoid recording videos when the charge drops below 15%
- Camera storage: The available space on your camera’s SD card is measured in gigabytes (GB). To free up space, delete image files once storage becomes low. Ensure that all image files have been uploaded to CupixWorks before doing so.
- Disconnect from the camera.
Choose Mode
There are 3 types of capture modes available:
- 3D Map - Record 20-minute videos that generate an auto-aligned virtual tour and 3D dollhouse mesh.
- 360° Video - Record 60-minute videos that generate an auto-aligned virtual tour.
- 360° Photo - Record single images that generate a manually positioned virtual tour.
The default mode is 3D Map. To choose a different capture mode, tap on the words.
Record 3D Map or 360° Video
Options Screen
Explanation of 3d Map or 360° Video recording screen options:
- Screen Rotation - Move the screen in 45° increments.
- Hide/Show Arrows - Tap to switch the directional arrows off and on.
- Starting Point- Pick this before you start recording. Options:
- Touch the screen to move the map/reference plan into position.
- Use your finger & thumb to expand (zoom in) or contract (zoom out) the map/reference plan to get an accurate starting point.
- Change - Tap to switch between different reference plans and levels.
- Tap on 3D Map or 360° Video.
- Start - Tap this button to start recording.
Video Recording Screen
Explanation of video recording screen:
- Countdown Timer- Options:
- 3D Map will count down from 20 minutes.
- 360° Video will count down from 60 minutes.
- Slide to Stop - Swipe from left to right to stop recording.
- Voice Note - Tap to record your voice. Instructions are available here: OmniNotes - VoiceNotes.
- Photo Note - Tap to take a single photo with your mobile device. Instructions are available here: OmniNotes - PhotoNotes.
Basic Video Capture
Instructions:
- Tap on the Start button.
- Walk the site. Create VoiceNotes and/or PhotoNotes as needed.
- Once finished, swipe Slide to Stop from left to right to stop recording.
- Tap on the OK button.
- Record another video, or stop capturing the site and start the upload process below.
Record 360° Photo
360° Photo Screen
Explanation of 360° Photo screen options:
- Screen Rotation - Move the screen in 45° increments.

Basic 360° Photo Capture
Instructions:
- Place the 360° camera into the desired position.
- Tap on the Start button to take a single photo.
- Choose:
- Move the 360° camera to a new position and tap the Start button to take another photo.
- Stop capturing the site and start the upload process below.
Limited Capture Modes
Your Project Admin might limit usable recording modes for the project. If you only see two modes or just the Start button, this is why. Examples of all modes and a single mode:
Upload
The upload process consists of 2 parts:
- Upload the "capture data" (info about your camera's location) and OmniNotes to the CupixWorks server.
- Upload the image files to the CupixWorks server. This can be accomplished via desktop, mobile, or web app.
Upload Capture Data and OmniNotes
Here is how to upload your capture(s):
- Disconnect from the camera WiFi in the mobile device Settings or turn off the camera.
- Connect to a stable WiFi, hotspot, or cellular network with internet access.
- Tap on the cloud icon in the bottom left corner. This takes you to the Upload Capture screen.
- Note: The red dot indicates that there are files to upload.)
- The capture data and OmniNotes will be uploaded.
- Note: This screen will show the message, "No Internet Connection" and "Please reconnect to continue." until you connect to a WiFi or cellular network. Turn off your camera and wait 20-30 seconds to initiate the upload.
Upload Image Files
Choose how you will upload the image files. Tap on one of the following options:
- Upload with Cupix Connect - A quick tutorial will appear. See Upload 360° Photos or Videos for instructions on using the Connect desktop app to upload all your image files.
- Upload now from mobile- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.

Reconfigure Capture Info
When network issues cause the capture data to be lost, there is a way to recover the data so you can upload your image files.
Here is how to reconfigure the capture data information in TwinCapture:
- Go to a location where you can access the internet with your mobile device.
- Open the TwinCapture app and sign in if needed.
- On the map/plan screen, tap on the gear icon (Settings) in the upper right.
- Tap on "Activity".
- Tap on a level listed under the date with the issue.
- Tap on a "3D Map", "360 Video", or "360 Photo" listed on that level.
- Tap on the blue "Reconfigure Capture Info" button.
- Tap on the red "Reconfigure" button.
- Once the capture data is uploaded you can upload the image files.
If you lost capture data for multiple recordings and levels, repeat the process starting at step #3 for each one. Afterward, upload the image files.
Settings
Information listed:
- The current team logo.
- Current Project - Switch between different projects.
- Activity - View and delete Areas after they are uploaded.
- Contact Support - Report a bug, suggest an improvement, or ask questions.
- Manage App Storage - Delete OmniNote data from the mobile device to free up space.
- App Version you are using.
- Sign Out - Switch between user profiles.
