Upload 360° Images

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Introduction

Use Cupix Connect to upload captures taken with TwinCapture after you upload the Capture Data.

Connect helps you to upload your image files using one of two options:

  • 360° Camera - Automatically scan the camera's file folder.
  • Folder - Select a file folder on the camera, a microSD card in a USB/internal reader, or a computer folder.

The options available for each camera model are listed below.

Insta360 Cameras

  • 360° Camera
    • Automatically scans the camera for 360° images once the camera is connected to the computer.
  • Folder
    • USB cable:
      1. Each Insta360 camera requires activating a USB setting on the camera. Turn on the camera and follow the instructions for your model:
      2. Connect the camera to the USB cable attached to the computer.
      3. Select the folder that contains the images. You can select the entire hard drive letter (i.e., "C" or "D") or the "Camera01" folder on the camera.
    • microSD card:
      1. Insert the microSD card into a USB card reader.
      2. Connect it to the computer.
    • Computer: Copy the files from the camera or microSD card onto the computer.

Ricoh Theta Cameras

  • 360° Camera

    • You can use WiFi to connect your Ricoh Theta camera when a cable is unavailable.
  • Folder
    • USB cable:
      1. Turn on and connect the camera to the USB cable attached to the computer.
      2. Select the folder that contains the images. You can select the entire hard drive letter (i.e., "RICOH THETA X") or the "100RICOH" folder on the camera.
    • microSD card:
      1. Insert the microSD card into a USB card reader.
      2. Connect it to the computer.
    • Computer: Copy the files from the camera or microSD card onto the computer.

Upload Process

1. Click on Upload 360° Files.

2. Choose your method:

  • Use 360° Camera to upload directly from the camera using a USB cable connected to a computer.
  • Use Folder to transfer images using one of the following methods:
    • Upload from the camera using a USB cable.
    • Upload from a microSD card reader connected to the computer.
    • You have already copied the images to the computer and will upload them from the computer. (Note: Connect can scan at the hard drive level. There is no need to choose the folder containing the image files.)

3. Select to use either 360° Camera or Folder. Here are video tutorials for each:

Here are a few tips for a better upload experience.

Virtual Environments

360° cameras might not be accessible with a USB cable when your computer uses a virtual desktop environment (Citrix, VirtualBox, VMware, etc.). If you have a virtual desktop system and cannot connect to the camera, try using the microSD card from your Insta360 camera or another computer.

Filter by Capture Person

Project Admins and Project Members can upload each other's image files. Here is how to filter the list of captures by your own or all members of the project team:

Computer Sleep Mode

When your computer enters Sleep Mode, network connections are disconnected. This will then stop the uploading process between Connect and the CupixWorks servers. You can restart the upload process again if this happens.

To avoid this in the future:

  • Change the computer settings for Sleep to a longer period.
  • Change the computer settings for Sleep to 'Never'.
