Introduction
The Timeline Compare View enables you to analyze captures from different dates, providing a clear visual reference for tracking progress and site changes over time. You can navigate through different time points with synchronized capture viewers, select specific captures, and switch between compare modes for detailed visual analysis.
Accessing Timeline Compare View
To start a timeline comparison:
- Open your project in SiteView and access the menu on the left side.
- Click Timeline Compare in the menu.
This opens two synchronized capture viewers—a primary viewer and a secondary viewer—allowing you to compare different capture dates side by side.
Navigating the Timeline Compare View
- Click inside the viewer or use the WASD keys or arrow keys to navigate in either the primary or secondary capture viewer.
- Navigate directly to a specific location using the Plan Viewer or Location Indicator.
For more details on navigation in the capture viewer, refer to the Navigation in First Person Mode article.
Note:
The Location Indicator in the navigating viewer displays location information such as level, work area, and room, while the other viewer only shows the capture date.
Sync/Unsync Camera Views
By default, both viewers are synced, meaning navigation in one viewer automatically moves the other.
To move independently:
- Right-click inside the secondary capture viewer.
- Select Unsync Camera to freely navigate the secondary view while the primary remains unchanged.
Note: To re-sync the views, right-click inside the secondary viewer and select Sync Camera.
Changing Compare Mode
You can switch between different compare modes in Timeline Compare View:
Dual Camera: Default side-by-side comparison that displays two separate viewers of the same area.
Single Camera: Overlapped views with a slider to reveal portions of each viewer.
TwinLens: Movable viewer displaying BIM or different captures over your main viewer.
Note: For more details on Compare Mode, refer to the Change Compare Mode article.
