Insta360 ONE X2 Basic Setup

Connect to Camera WiFi Network

Connect Camera to iOS Mobile Device

  1. On your mobile device, access Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Select the Insta360 ONE X2 WiFi SSID. (For example, ONE X2 7VMF4Q.OSC is an SSID.)
  3. Enter the password. The default password is '88888888' (eight 8's).
  4. Confirm that the camera WiFi network is connected.

Connect Camera to Android Mobile Device

  1. On your mobile device, access Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
  2. Select the Insta360 ONE X2 WiFi SSID. (For example, ONE X2 7VMF4Q.OSC is an SSID.)
  3. Enter the password. The default password is '88888888' (eight 8's).
  4. Confirm that the camera WiFi network is connected.

Change Camera USB Mode

The camera's USB Mode defaults to Android and might also be reset to Android after a firmware update, so it won't be found by a Windows/ MAC computer when using the Connect App to upload image files. To fix this:

  1. Touch the screen and swipe down
  2. Swipe left.
  3. Tap on the gear icon (Settings in the lower left.
  4. Tap on General.
  5. Tap on USB Mode.
  6. Change it to Desktop Mode by tapping on it.
  7. Swipe right three times, then swipe up to return to the home screen.

Keep the Camera Powered On

To keep the camera from automatically powering off:

  1. Tap on the home screen until the options appear.
  2. Swipe down.
  3. Swipe left.
  4. Tap on the gear icon (Settings in the lower right.
  5. Tap on General.
  6. Swipe up to Auto Power Off and tap on it.
  7. Change it to Never by tapping on it.
  8. Swipe right three times, then swipe up to return to the home screen.


Keep the Screen On

To keep the camera touch screen from turning off:

  1. Tap on the home screen until the options appear.
  2. Swipe down.
  3. Swipe left.
  4. Tap on the gear icon (Settings in the lower right.
  5. Swipe up to Screen Auto Sleep and tap on it.
  6. Tap on Timer.
  7. Change it to Never by tapping on it.
  8. Swipe right three times, then swipe up to return to the home screen.


Turn the Screen On/Off

To turn the touch screen on and off, hit the power button once.


Lock/Unlock the Screen

Lock the camera touch screen to avoid accidentally changing the settings:

  1. In the camera's touch screen, swipe down to change the settings.
  2. Tap on the lock symbol in the upper right. The touch screen is now locked.

To unlock the screen, tap on the touch screen and swipe the lock symbol up.


Record without TwinCapture

If you need to record a site without TwinCapture due to an issue, contact your CSM for instructions first.

Here is how to record without the app:

  1. The camera should be "Hard Reset". Here is how:
    1. Turn off the One X2 camera.
    2. Pop the battery & SD card out of the camera.
    3. Put them back in.
    4. Power the camera back on.
  2. Change the recording mode to Timelapse Video. Here is how:
    1. On the main screen, tap on the camera/video icon on the bottom left. 
    2. Change the settings to the video camcorder icon and Timelapse. Tap on the selection to return to the main screen afterward.

    3. Confirm that you see a clock and the phrase "5.7K/30" on the main screen. 
  3. While on the main screen, swipe from right to left to change these settings:
    1. Image = JPG 

    2. ISO & Shutter = Auto 

    3. EV = 0 

    4. WB = Auto 

    5. Swipe from left to right to save the settings afterward.
  4. Record your Timelapse videos. (If you need 3D dollhouses, keep them under 20 minutes each.)
  5. Contact your CSM to coordinate the uploading & processing of the image files you recorded.
