Upload Reality Captures

Introduction

With Cupix Connect, you can upload reality capture data (point clouds and imagery) captured with 3rd party systems.

NOTE: Connect has a 2 billion point limit per file. If you need to upload a file with more points, please contact your CSM.



Supported File Formats

These are the currently supported cloud point file formats: 

  • E57 (ASTM vendor-neutral file format for storing point clouds, images, and metadata)
  • LAS (LASer File Format from American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) 
  • LAZ (lossless LiDAR compressed LAS File Format) 
  • PLY (Polygon File Format or the Stanford Triangle Format) 
  • PTS (Leica Single Scan File Format) 
  • RCP (Autodesk ReCap Project File Format)* 
  • RCS (Autodesk ReCap Scan File Format)* 
  • XYZ (generic ASCII/ Binary point cloud File Format)

(* = Note that RCP and RCS are only supported by Connect for Windows. The Mac version does not support these file formats.)


Upload a Reality Capture (E57 excluded)

1. Click on Upload Reality Capture.

2. Select the File:

    A. Click on the Select button.

    B. Find your file, select it, then click the Open button.

    C. Once you see the name of the file, click the Next button.

3. Select the settings for the Area:

    A. Name the point cloud area.

    B. Choose a Workspace.

    C. Choose an existing Project.

    D. Add to an existing Capture or create a new one.

    E. Choose a Level, create a new one, or check the box to add it to the Auto level.

Click on the Next button.

4. The file is cached.

5. Click on the Upload button. The file will be optimized and uploaded. 

6. Once done, you will be returned to the home screen where a pop-up message will confirm it as complete. Click on the Ok button to finish the process.


Upload a Reality Capture (E57 specific)

1. Click on Upload Reality Capture.

2. Select the File:

    A. Click on the Select button.

    B. Find your file, select it, then click the Open button.

    C. Once you see the name of the file selected, choose the E57 file type:

  • Leica
  • Matterport
  • NavVis
  • Others

   D. Select Upload Point Cloud. Also, select Upload 360° Images if the file contains image files.

   E. Click on the Next button.

3. Select the settings for the Area:

    A. Name the point cloud area.

    B. Choose a Workspace.

    C. Choose an existing Project.

    D. Add to an existing Capture or create a new one.

    E. Choose a Level, create a new one, or check the box to add it to the Auto level.

Click on the Next button.

4. The file is cached.

5. Click on the Upload button. The file will be optimized and uploaded. 

6. Once done, you will be returned to the home screen where a pop-up message will confirm it as complete. Click on the Ok button to finish the process.
