Introduction
The GeoJSON export feature in CupixConnect allows you to download SiteView data in a globally compatible GIS format. This package includes both pano images and a GeoJSON file containing spatial metadata, so you can use Cupix data directly in GIS tools like QGIS or ArcGIS without additional conversion.
Note: The GeoJSON option is available only if geolocation is enabled in the project (Unified license only). For details on how to enable it, see the Enable Geocoordinates in a Project article.
Export with Geolocation
- Open CupixConnect on your desktop and select Download SiteView Content.
Note:
- This option appears only when enabled; contact your CSM to activate it for your team.
- Accessible only to users in the Team Admin or Super Admin group.
- Choose the download type: GeoJSON for GIS software
- Enter the SiteView URL or ID of the project you want to export.
- Select the content to include:
- Levels: Choose one or multiple project levels.
- Captures Dates: Include captures from one or multiple dates (range or selected dates) as needed.
- Image Format: Choose between WebP and JPG to meet your need.
-
Start the download. CupixConnect will create a ZIP archive with the exported data.
Note: Large projects may generate multi-gigabyte ZIP files—make sure you have sufficient local storage.
Using the Data in GIS Tools
When you download SiteView content with geolocation, CupixConnect creates a ZIP archive containing:
- GeoJSON file – Uses the WGS84 (EPSG:4326) coordinate system, includes pano metadata (file name, capture date, altitude), and provides image path links to associated pano images.
- Pano images – High-resolution files for each selected capture, stored in absolute paths referenced inside the GeoJSON file.
You can import the GeoJSON file into GIS platforms such as QGIS or ArcGIS as a layer:
- Panos appear as geolocated point features with metadata.
- Clicking an image path link in the GeoJSON properties opens the corresponding pano image.
- No coordinate transformation is required.
Note: Exported images are only accessible from the downloader’s local folder. The file path and file names must remain unchanged for the links to work.
Recommended Plug-in for QGIS
We recommend installing the Panorama Viewer plug-in, which enables viewing of 360° panoramic images directly in QGIS. [Download here]
