Connecting to the Insta360 X3

By registering your camera information with the Cupix Capture App, you can connect the camera to the app immediately for future captures.

This camera can record up to 1 hour of video at a time with the Cupix Capture App.


Connect to the Capture App

To connect the Insta360 ONE X2 to the Cupix Capture App:

  1. Turn on the camera.

    • Hold down the power button (button on side of the camera) until the camera turns on.
      Note: Make sure the camera battery is fully charged and there is enough storage available for recording the entire day.
  2. The camera WiFi is always on, so there is no need to check for this.

  3. Find the camera WiFi SSID and default password.

    If you do not know the camera WiFi SSID and password:

    1. On the main screen, swipe down.
    2. Swipe left, then tap on Settings (gear icon in the lower right).
    3. Swipe up, then tap on Camera Info.
    4. The SSID is always "X3 ??????.OSC" for which the question marks represent the last 6 digits of the Camera Name. For instance, IXSE99CN7VMF4Q would make the SSID appear as X3 7VMF4Q.OSC in your iOS device.
    5. The default password is 88888888 (8 typed eight times) and cannot be changed.
  4. Connect the camera to your mobile iOS device.

    1. On your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, access Settings > Wi-Fi.
    2. Select the Insta360 X3 WiFi SSID and enter the password, if needed.
    3. Confirm that the camera is connected.
  5. Add the camera to the Cupix Capture App.

    1. Open the Cupix Capture App and navigate to Cameras.
    2.  Next to Choose a 360° camera, tap on Add
    3. Once the camera is registered, tap on Done to connect to the camera.

#2 Change Camera USB Mode

The camera's USB Mode defaults to Android and might also be reset to Android after a firmware update, so it won't be found by a Windows/ MAC computer when using the Connect App to upload image files. To fix this:

  1. Touch the screen and swipe down
  2. Tap on the gear icon (Settings in the lower left.
  3. Tap on USB Mode.
  4. Change it to U-Disk Mode by tapping on it.
  5. Tap the back arrow two times, then swipe up to return to the home screen.

#4 Keep Camera Powered On

  1. At the home screen swipe down.
  2. Tap on the gear icon (Settings)
     at the bottom left.
  3. Swipe up to Auto Power Off and tap on it.
  4. Tap on Never.
  5. Tap the back arrow two times, then swipe up to return to the home screen.


#5 Keep Camera Touch Screen On

  1. At the home screen swipe down.
  2. Tap on the gear icon (Settings)
     at the bottom left.
  3. Swipe up to Auto Sleep and tap on it.
  4. Tap on Never.
  5. Tap the back arrow two times, then swipe up to return to the home screen.


#6 Turn Touch Screen On/Off

To turn the touch screen on and off, hit the power button once.


#7 Lock/Unlock Camera Touch Screen

Lock the camera touch screen to avoid accidentally changing the settings:

  1. In the camera's touch screen, swipe down to change the settings.
  2. Tap on Dive Case Mode  in the middle bottom. The touch screen is now locked.

To unlock the screen, tap on the touch screen and swipe up.
