Updating Mi Sphere and MADV Firmware

Here are the steps required to properly update the Firmware in your Mi Sphere or MADV camera.

Transfer the update file using a microSD card

        1. Fully charge your camera. The battery indicator light will turn blue at 100%.

        2. With the camera turned off, remove the microSD card by pushing it in to release.

        3. Use a microSD card reader to insert it into your computer.

        4. Create a new folder on your computer that is easy to access and named appropriately.

        5. Download the firmware (the ZIP file at bottom of this article) and copy it into the new folder on your computer.

        6. Open the “update” folder on the microSD card and remove/delete any current files. If it doesn't exist, create it.

        7. Copy MadvSysFW.zip from your computer into the “update” folder on the microSD card.

        8. Safely eject the microSD card.

        9. Put the microSD card back into the camera with it turned off.

Update the camera

IMPORTANT: Ensure your camera is fully charged before updating. DO NOT STOP the update after it starts or you can brick your device, which makes it unusable.

        1. Hold the Wi-Fi button while pressing the power button once. Wait 3-5 seconds.

        2. Keep holding the Wi-Fi button as the camera turns on until the Photo and Video light indicators begin flashing. Then release the Wi-Fi button and set the camera down.

** Firmware Update Has Started**

        3. Wait for the update to complete, which can take about 20 seconds. The camera will buzz and turn off once it is done.

        4. Wait 10 seconds and turn the camera back on.

        5. The light indicators will flash and the update will finish installing with a quick restart.

    6. Close, and then re-open the Capture App.

    7. In the Capture App, confirm the version of firmware under Cameras -> [your camera model number] -> Camera Settings.
