Enable Measurements in SiteView

Enable Measurements in SiteView

SiteView users have the option of taking measurements using 360° photos (also referred to as panos) within SiteView. However, the accuracy of these measurements are dependent on the how well the reference plans and clusters of panos are scaled.  Individual panos within a capture or area are aligned using photogrammetry, and in turn these pano areas and clusters are aligned using the reference plans as a guide.  Therefore, the more accurately a reference plan is scaled using real world measurements taken from the jobsite, the more accurate measurements taken from the SiteView will be.

After areas within a capture have been aligned and scaled, these areas must have their Measure Ready option enabled to for the distance, angle, and radius measurement features available in SiteView.

Note: Due to the lack of photos to perform photogrammetry with, areas created using Single-Shot Mode will not have the Measure Ready option, and users will be unable to make measurements using panos taken with Single-Shot Mode. Only Cluster Shot and Video Mode captures have the option for SiteView measurements. Refer to Measurement Accuracy for further information on how measurement accuracy is dependent upon capture mode.

Set Up Captures or Areas for Measurements

Prior to enabling or disabling measurements for an entire capture or specific areas, you must:

  1. Make sure the reference plan used to align capture areas has been scaled using measurements taken from the jobsite.
  2. View and verify all areas within a capture or specific desired areas have been aligned on the reference plan by following instructions under the section Selecting Areas to Open in Capture Editor.

Enable or Disable Measurements for a Capture

A capture can contain multiple areas, which each cover different regions of a level.  Enabling or disabling measurements for a capture will apply the action to all areas on all levels within that capture.

To enable or disable measurements for a capture in SiteView:

  1. From the CupixWorks web app, navigate to the workspace and project that holds the SiteView you are interested in.
  2. From the Project Center, click Captures to open the capture list for the project.
  3. Right click on the capture name > Measure Ready > Enable All or Disable All.

If Enable All is selected, the Measure tools are now available in SiteView for all areas and levels of the selected capture.  Otherwise, if Disable All is selected, all areas within the capture in SiteView will no longer have the Measure tools.

Enable or Disable Measurements for a Specific Area

Depending on your application, you may also select specific regions where you want measurements enabled or disabled within a capture.  To do so, you will need to turn Measure Ready On or Off for a specific area.

To enable or disable measurements for an area in SiteView:

  1. From the CupixWorks web app, navigate to the workspace and project that holds the SiteView you are interested in.
  2. From the Project Center, click Captures to open the capture list for the project.
  3. Double click the capture name to open its Capture Detail Page and view the area list.
  4. To find an area located on a different level, click the current level name and select the desired level from the drop down.
  5. Right click the name of the area > Measure Ready.

The Measure tools are now available in SiteView for the selected area if the box next to Measure Ready is checked.  If the Measure Ready box is unchecked, the specific area will no longer have the Measure tools in SiteView.
