This glossary defines common terms used in CupixWorks software and support articles.

360° Camera

A camera that has a field of view covering approximately an entire sphere. All cameras supported by CupixWorks have at least two lenses to do so.

360° Photo

A photograph that approximately spans an entire sphere.

360° Video

A video that approximately spans an entire sphere.

3D Digital Twin

See Digital Twin.

A

Admin

A type of user role in CupixWorks. In addition to having access to all folders and data within a team, they can manage security and access as well as administrative settings.

Annotation

A filled out form typically describing a condition, action item, or resolution in a SiteView. Annotations are created using a form template.

Area

Part of a capture taken on a single level of a building or jobsite.

B

BIM

Short for Building Information Modeling, a BIM is a 3D digital model representing physical properties and functional characteristics of a building.

Bubble Mode

In SiteView, the viewing mode for digital twins that depicts pano locations as grey spheres floating at camera height.

C

Capture

A series of 360° photos and/or 360° videos used to document a building or location.

Capture App

Designed for use on the iPhone or iPad, this app uses a 360° camera to take 360° photos and 360° videos while guiding the user when creating captures of their jobsite. The app simultaneously organizes the user’s photos and videos while keeping track of the locations they were photographed or filmed at the jobsite.

Capture Data

Data generated during a capture aside from 360° imagery. This includes 360° photo locations, selected project setup data, and annotations made during the capture.

CupixWorks Studio

An online platform where team members can set up projects, edit captures, create SiteViews, and generate reports.

Digital Twin

A digitized record of a building or location, created using 360° photos and//or 360° videos from a capture taken on a specific date.

F

Folders

Hierarchical groups used to organize data in CupixWorks. Folders include the Workspace and Project.

Form Templates

A form with preset fields used to create annotations in SiteViews.

G

Group

Team members that are put together in a list. Typically, members within a group require access to the same workspaces or projects.

H

HDR Mode

A photo mode available on some cameras (Ricoh Theta V and Z1), we recommend using HDR mode to take photos in dim locations. In this mode, cameras typically take three photos in quick succession using different predefined exposures and automatically combine them into a single photo.

L

Level

Represents one floor of a building or location, it can hold multiple reference plans. Captures are organized by levels.

M

Markup

In SiteView, a 2D screenshot taken from a 360° photo (pano) that allows the user to draw or type on it.

Member

A user on a team in CupixWorks.

Multi-Shot

A shooting method available in the Capture App. Take up to six hundred 360° photos of an area while the app auto-maps them.

P

Pano

Short for panoramic, it is a 360° photo in a digital twin.

Project

A folder used to represent one building or one location. Projects contain levels, reference plans, BIM, captures, SiteViews, and reports.

Project Setup

In the Capture App, download the project setup for offline access to the project template and data including address, levels, and reference plans. Using the project template, organize any captures you make while allowing the Capture App to automap photos in Multi-Shot and Video mode.

Reference Plan

A diagram depicting sections, dimensions, and other characteristics of a level within a building. Multiple reference plans (ie: floor plan, partition plan, MEP plan) can be uploaded and viewed in each level of a project.

Report

Allows the user to see all data from annotations and markups created using the same form template in a project’s SiteViews. A report contains a spreadsheet (.xls, .csv) organized by name, status, SiteView, creator, date of creation, and most recent update time, and data within each form’s fields are also listed.

Shooting Method

How 360° images are taken with the Capture App. There are three available methods: Multi-Shot, Video, and Single-Shot.

Single-Shot

A shooting method available in the Capture App. Take one 360° photo and mark its location on the reference plan.

SiteView

The online platform to view, share, and annotate digital twins and BIM. Admins can control user access by project, capture, level, and areas.

Studio

T

Team

An overarching structure that holds members and groups as well as workspaces. Teams are typically made up of a group of collaborators working closely together on multiple projects.

Team URL

The CupixWorks webpage for a specific team. The URL is needed to log into the Capture App or CupixWorks.

Video

A shooting method available in the Capture App. Record up to seven minutes of 360° video footage while walking around an area.

W

Walkthrough Mode

The default viewing mode for digital twins in SiteView. Navigation in this mode is similar to Google Street View.

Workspace

The highest folder within a team that holds data including projects, captures, SiteViews, reports, and templates.
